The Ramones' "Chinese Rock" is superior to the Heartbreakers' version right?
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread
I prefer the looser take of the Heartbreakers, but there's nothing wrong with the gigantic Ramones version.

Nope. A good cover but no way can you beat that Thunders guitar sound. I say cover as The Heartbreakers made it famous however Dee Dee was one it's writers.

Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread
The Heartbreakers version sounds like a really loose and fun demo (like a lot of their material, actually). The Ramones version is big and tight. I love both, but probably prefer the bruddahs' take.

Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread
They are both good in their own way. I think I prefer the live version from DTK, however. Loose, ragged, but powerful. Nolan and Rath are locked in and Johnny has that drugged out drawl that goes very well (obviously) with the subject of the song.

I haven't listened to LAMF in forever, I'm going to have to dig it out.

Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread
The Heartbreakers' version sounds dangerous, The Ramones version is kind of bland tbh.
