My wife bought me a heavy jacket for xmas and I said "What, are we going skiing this year?" and turns out we had the coldest winter ever. True story.
Define coldest in terms of degrees Farenheit.
We got hit by the polar vortex a couple of weeks ago. Air temp negative 28 with a wind chill pushing negative 50. They claim it was a once in a generation weather event. I certainly hope so.
*cough* climate change *cough* don't count on it *cough* Chaotic weather is the new normal.

I read that the polar vortex was actually a direct result of climate change. I don't know the specifics, but it caused the cold air that normally circles the Arctic to dip down and catch a ride in the jet stream.

Yet the meatheads will still say that winter is supposed to be cold and that this is nothing to worry about.

Makes sense to me.

I actually heard a few meatheads talk about how global warming didn't exist because it was so cold outside. I figured it wasn't worth engaging them in discussion about it.

That's shorts and t-shirt weather for some people I know. I can get by with a sweatshirt or light jacket.

Seriously. If it's above freezing in February, my jacket is open, I'm not wearing gloves, and things seem pretty damned good.

Yeah, it has to be really cold and I have to be outside for a sustained period of time to zip up my jacket.

The wind has been diabolical the last couple days. Somehow it's, like, -15C but feels like Neptune.

I gotta say, my visit to New Mexico was pretty nice. It was the dead of winter and was like 30 at night and 50 during the day. You can see snow in the mountains.

So, I read that yesterday was the windiest day in a quarter century in this town—43 kph. And me without a kite.
