Had thought to count down from 19 but contenders were getting increasingly pervy as she dropped so had to abort before the end.
yeah, i was originally thinking of trying some sort of "here are the creepiest songs on the subject from all those gross old rock n rollers" but decided that list would make me feel sad so I skipped it.
Jerry Lee notwithstanding, I thing the biggest mistake rock made was not growing with its audience. A teen singing about other teens is much less creepy than a 35 year old doing the same.

Spiting Heston and his banhammer:

1. To Be Young, Gifted and Black - Nina Simone
2. The Death of Emmett Till - Bob Dylan
3. Dead Man's Curve - Jan & Dean
4. Baba O'Riley - The Who
5. Ode to Billie Joe - Bobbie Gentry
Been hearing OtBJ a lot on the wireless lately for some reason. Can never figure out whether it’s a true work of genius or just plain weird.

The former. Definitely. There’s a great episode on the Cocaine and Rhinestones podcast about it.

Must have a listen to that. Always been curious about the genesis of the song, particularly the dylan connection which i have some vague recollections of reading about.

That podcast on the whole is a strong recommend from me even for people who don’t care for country music.

I'm not allowing that as he could just as easily be 35 as 15.

It fantastic a beautiful singer too. The reason you may be hearing it a bit of late could be because of this.

Once went out with a London girl
Dirty weekend in a hotel
Broke it off when she got shirty
She was twelve and he was thirty

12 isn't a teenager. 2 week ban.

The song is about him not her. He was 30. It's not called Mummy's Boy for nothing. The song also states he lived with his mum for 40 years.

Ok I take Heston’s point that is a fair cop.
Maths not my strongpoint but I never clicked on to the fact he was 30 but “lived with mother for 40 years”???
