Yeah that's an excellent one-two punch on that album. We'll Let You Know is a particular favorite.drowninghere wrote: ↑25 Jan 2019, 3:28pm^ Glam, rockabilly and muscular not really my thing so that probably explains it there. Do very much like We'll Let You Know and NFD.

My guitarist got that one, it looks great—I'd recommend it.

That is one fugly sleeve.

Re: The All Smiths/Morrissey Thread
Sleeve doesn't bother me but that font colour is just wrong. I'm no graphic designer but even I can see that the yellow of CALIFORNIA is harder to pick up than it should be.
The thing I don't get is when the Smiths were releasing singles and albums every few months the sleeves were fantastic and looked like Morrissey agonized for hours over every little detail. Now he has all the time in the world to come up with something and they looked rushed.

Agreed completely. There was something very stylish about Smiths' sleeves, from the photo choice to the colour wash. Smiths sleeves suggested there was something special about the contents; Morrissey sleeves, with a few exceptions, look whipped up in ten minutes.oliver wrote: ↑03 Mar 2019, 10:10amThe thing I don't get is when the Smiths were releasing singles and albums every few months the sleeves were fantastic and looked like Morrissey agonized for hours over every little detail. I can guarantee that he chose that font and sleeve and the fact you don't like it is all he needs.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑03 Mar 2019, 10:37amAgreed completely. The Smiths sleeves were great simple but very effective. I'm with you guys regards the majority of his solo sleeves.

I think the cover looks pretty bad, and it's not very Morrissey-like. The Hobo typeface (font) bugs me...again, not very Morrissey-like.

Which is exactly the point. Morrissey has chosen the design/font deliberately.BR16ADE_R055E wrote: ↑04 Mar 2019, 2:03amI think the cover looks pretty bad, and it's not very Morrissey-like. The Hobo typeface (font) bugs me...again, not very Morrissey-like.
