Sandinista ! Strike Out Edition.

Post by Marky Dread »

So Sandinista ! is my favourite Clash album. Such an amazing diverse range of styles etc.

A double a single an EP?
Fuck all that crap it's a brilliant record. I've decided to remix it and make this new ''Strike Out'' version. Keeping all The Clash songs on board and adding a couple that were recorded at Pluto studio for the Sandinista ! sessions.

Some edits have taken place the kids songs are gone. I've included Tymon Dogg's excellent ''Lose This Skin'' as a stand alone single in the file.

Also I've rounded up all of Mikey Dread's dubs for a separate album as a proposed giveaway/freebie as in keeping with the spirit of the times.

Please do not share outside of the forum as the people here will have bought this album many times over the years. Those that haven't do so!

Just an idea, but you could password protect the files with your username or something.

Marky, what method do you use to decide on the running order? I have my own techniques but I'm always curious about others' thought processes when they put mixes together.

Brilliant work, as usual. The concept of "dubwise version" is the same of UB40 "Present Arms in Dub" (same year!) :approve:

I listen to everything back to back and see how they feel side by side and how compatible they are musically sounding and often thematically. I create many examples then pick the most well ballanced versions.

Probably the last decent thing that band did. Of course according to Ali Campbell ''The Clash had no idea how to play reggae''.

Glad you are liking it. I'm pleased with the mix. You can hear little bits extra in this mix.

Sounds pretty close to my method, but do you subscribe to the notion that there are proper slots for songs on a tracklist? Such as track one having a particular feeling (usually storming out of the gate), track 2 building on that, track 3 pulling back a bit, tracks 5 and 7 being the best tracks on the album, etc?
