You mean mocking Ratty for his Leafs abuse on you? :shifty:

Speaking of which, anyone know how Ratty's doing? Haven't seen him posting at his usual prolific rate over the past few months.

Yeah, I was thinking about that the other day. He'd been a lot more infrequent for a while and has been totally MIA for a bit.

I've noticed him lurking now and then. I assume he's wrapped up in work (based on the last time he was absent for a prolonged stretch) or he's also on the Yankees IL.

I'll look for him at the pub tonight.

We probably would but he moved out of town just before I moved in.

Huh, I didn't know he left Cambridge. Where'd he move to, if you're okay saying.

I believe he’s moved to the City of Champions, Brockton , MA. He’s training to be a boxer.

Well, good(?) for him. Ratty's got a wonderfully aggressive intellect. Hope it serves him well there.

After watching New York and Boston slowly turn in to sterile playgrounds for the rich and cleared of good sandwich shops I understand fleeing to smaller cities. I think we're going to see a small city revival in terms of art, music, and nightlife.

It's fascinating to me the larger movements of segments of the population. From the 1950s to the 1980s, the trend was for the white middle class to leave the cities in favour of the suburbs, and people of colour moving to the cities, which, deprived of a prosperous tax base, fell into ruin. The suburban ideal had more prosperous minorities strive to get there, while younger and wealthier white people began to rethink the city in the 80s and 90s because of the supposed sterility of suburban life and the cheap cost of property in the cities. Now the cities are becoming too expensive and drenched in corporate sterility, and young people as a whole don't have the means to afford property there anyway. So, yeah, it makes sense that the smaller city that is more affordable and less dominated by corporate retail is the next target for a notable population shift.

Lowell, MA was a shithole when I was a kid. In the last 20 years it's had a great rebirth due to immigrants, cheap housing, and a shitload of ready to rehab warehouse space.
