Mowing the lawn is one of the most annoying yet most satisfying jobs in one.
It truly is. I really don't like doing it - but once it's done it can be quite satisfying.
The only satisfaction I get from it is having a few beers afterwards while I listen to a baseball game.
I've started listening to podcasts while I do it. Makes it go a bit quicker.

We only have a small backyard, so it doesn't take long to mow. The problem is that it's impossible to grow a decent lawn. When we bought the place, it was in rough shape, so we resodded the whole thing. But there's so much wildlife around—squirrels, raccoons, skunks, groundhogs—that it didn't take long to get beaten up again. Seriously, that first summer with the new sod, every morning a section would be rolled up. I still reseed it a couple times a year, but it's minimally effective. My guess is that next year we'll get rid of the grass and install stones and flower beds.

Oh I listen to music while I do it but that just makes something I don't like less crappy.

A female coworker was talking about how she spoils her dog. She jokingly said she only feeds it filet mignon and champagne. I nearly said "Now I wanna be your dog". But as she is much younger and enjoys different music and wouldn't get the reference I bit my tongue.

Oh for sure, the thing is it was such a seemingly natural response to what she said. It's one of those things where someone will say something and it just triggers a song lyric response. I was about to say it when some other part of my brain said NO!!!!

I hate Jentucky Fried Chicken. There's something just slightly off about it.

I know! I sent an email to my boss and to the admin assistant. The latter was like I don't know. She's an idiot sometimes.
