Strummer: London is burning

Post by spaceboy »

Does anyone have any info re this remix (or is it the original version) of 'Burning Streets'? Other than the 128kbps mp3 that was available on the 'Generations' compilation, can a CD quality version be found anywhere?? it's an interesting little oddity...

Its the original mix and comes from a cd of Streetcore work in progress mixes which runs thus
1:Get Down Moses
2:Boxwood Motel (Arms Aloft in Aberdeen)
3:Fantastic
4:Coma Girl
5:London is Burning
6:Secret Agent Man
7:Silver and Gold
8:Midnight Jam
All are slightly or very different mixes from the finished album and Secret Agent Man remains unreleased at present.

What did Fantastic turn into? It's probably obvious, but I haven't listened to Streetcore for a while.

I believe Fantastic is written as the title for Ramshackle Day Parade in the lyric booklet. Secret Agent Man must be Guitar Slinger Man, didn't think that got to be recorded... interesting guest post.

Secret Agent Man could be a different track, that and All In Day were written for the film Triple XXX.

Might just be a demo with Joe doing the Johnny Rivers lyrics.

This is all new to me. Are these recordings circulating among fans?

It's in the Redemption Song book. It surprised me when I read it.

Interesting. Never heard of this item, and it obviously has never been widely circulated. Here's hoping it surfaces on this forum someday. Thanks for the info, and if anyone has a higher bitrate version of the track in question please post!

Don't hold your breath in the hope of this getting into circulation , as with a lot of this kind of stuff it is given to a person in confidence with strict instructions not to pass it on, as people for whatever reason don't want it getting into the public domain, and if it does get passed on then it is obvious who broke the confidence so it will remain uncicrulated for now.
I know its really just a bunch of songs and fans and collectors would love to hear this stuff but there you go, i can think of half a dozen really juicy items that exist but probably will never get out there so to speak, but to tell you what they are would just be teasing so i won't.

Yeah, that attitude doesn't make much sense to me either. Whatever, it's all rotten.

This has always mystified me, if these things are never gonna see a release, why not get them out there?
