I should probably be embarrassed at my realisation that I have basically no sense of humour about Strummer's solo work but I'm not. Turns out it sits in a very personal place.

I’ll admit I’ve been vaguely irritated by those I disagree with in a way that is not mature.

Something that genuinely mystifies me about the irritation with other people's picks is that based on our tastes (musical, political, cultural), aren't we all used to being in the minority? Our views rarely triumph in popularity contests. Don't we have thicker skins by this point? I'm more focused, I guess, on the weird situation where my preferences do come out on top than not. Just seems a shame to regard any of this with negativity.

Only with Strummer's solo work is where my thin skinnedness appears.

Still, I guess I don't understand how the interpretations and preferences of others who are basically sympathetic to your tastes relative to wider society generates irritation. Maybe it's my contrarian streak, but being on the outside of a decision just doesn't bug me much.

Same. It’s weird. I could give a tin shit about whether people disagree with my opinions on here about anything, but Strummer is a stumbling block.
