What Flex said about Joe’s releases is true. I have like 3-4 different mostly fan made comps that I have to mine to find all of his stuff. And all of them overlap in some songs and not others.

Seeing IH hanging in there makes me regret voting for it.

No joke. A tall dwarf with Popeye's arms is almost a short giant.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑11 Jul 2019, 2:39pmHow did that joke go? I do like Island Hopping a lot.

Well, I sure do like Island Hopping. T.C was my favourite character in Magnum, P.I., too.

Love the song to pieces, but when listening to the other tunes in this final list, the production really does this song in - even relative to the still somewhat muddyish sound of Trash City. All of these remaining songs are great, but this is a fairly glaring deficiency.

I want to know who is the fellow BB hater. You can PM me if you don't want to out yourself! It's okay being a minority in the right. That's been the majority of my existence here.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Good point but I think Johnny Appleseed should be there, and definitely, definitely something from Walker.Flex wrote: ↑11 Jul 2019, 5:18pmWhile the format plays it's tricks, MB and IH may not be worth serious consideration (although, subjectively speaking, I strongly disagree with that assertion) but it's not clear to me that they kingslayed anything more worthy from contention. EW and the Meskie's non-album tracks were both pretty scattershot affairs - even more so than something like Cut the Crap, as it turns out. It's a limitation of the format (I suppose), but it shouldn't really functionally prevent the best 3-5 songs from rising to the top.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑11 Jul 2019, 3:35pmIH and MB are the only ones that stick out to me as not really worth serious consideration. All told, I think the group did a solid job in confirming the cream.
In the end, i think every entry here is among Joe's best (even if not each one was my personal fave), so I have no complaints.
the HUGE limitation I see is that this format didn't allow Coma Girl to compete in the finals, since I think it could have finished second or third in voting despite losing by a few votes to GDM. Not sure any other songs have really been denied a shot at glory like that.
Or, GDM gets bounced in a few rounds and I revise that position, but given its traction I think GDM is going all the way.
