Whatever You Want: The Essential Status Quo seems to cover everything.muppet hi fi wrote: ↑19 Jul 2019, 9:12pmHes, I've gotta check the Quo out. How bad/uncool/dorky/whatever could they have been, as they have a pretty prominent place in rock music history (even if only in the UK). Can you recommend a good career spanning compilation?

Cheers, hope it doesn't suck too badly. I already listen to enough crappy music as is.Heston wrote: ↑19 Jul 2019, 9:24pmWhatever You Want: The Essential Status Quo seems to cover everything.muppet hi fi wrote: ↑19 Jul 2019, 9:12pmHes, I've gotta check the Quo out. It's a hard one to call. I grew up with the Quo in the charts every week and they had some good, catchy songs. They're a kind of British CCR with more longevity and the diminishing returns that entails.muppet hi fi wrote: ↑19 Jul 2019, 9:29pmCheers, hope it doesn't suck too badly. I like Quo they are a fun 12 bar blues band with a pop edge. But go check out the brilliant "Neighbour Neighbour" by The Spectres.Heston wrote: ↑19 Jul 2019, 9:33pmIt's a hard one to call. I have a Status Quo best of, it's OK, they're no Slade, but POMM is a 1%er for me.

I think the "listen to the flower people" section of Spinal Tap was directly modelled on Quo.

I doubt he really is. I think it was more his put down of the Ramones.

Don’t know if I am overthinking but finding this really hard.
Re: Heston and Marky's Friday Top 5
It was the opposite for me. I chose 5 in 5 minutes no more. But the end of the day, I thought of 20 more I could have chosen!101Walterton wrote: ↑20 Jul 2019, 4:50pmDon’t know if I am overthinking but finding this really hard.
Re: Heston and Marky's Friday Top 5
It took some thinking on my part. I think I could more easily come up with 5 songs I hate from bands I really like.BitterTom wrote: ↑20 Jul 2019, 4:58pmIt was the opposite for me. Re: Heston and Marky's Friday Top 5
As soon as I come up with one there is usually s second song I also like or the other alternative if e.g. Black - Wonderful Life (as Heston mentioned earlier) I love the song but don’t really know the rest of their catalogueto dislike the band. Have a few of those.revbob wrote: ↑20 Jul 2019, 5:05pmIt took some thinking on my part.
