But that’s not how people generally vote.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑03 Jul 2019, 12:09pmMore conservative free market semi-skeptics. For all the conventional wisdom about the Democrats needing a centrist to appeal to soft Republican voters, I think someone like Warren and Sanders could grab a decent chunk of conservative voters, assuming they can be persuaded to think about their immediate economic interests rather than their cultural aversion to liberalism.

Re: The Future of the Republican Party
That reminds of around ten years ago, when a former MP who was kicked out of the Conservative Party for being too overtly racist launched an independent campaign. His announcement/press conference was at around 8 am and he was, politely speaking, disheveled. Enough so that a reporter asked him, "Are you drunk right now?" (He didn't win the election.)

Not that any of this is likely to mean anything, but when was the last time a sitting president had this many (3) challengers? Bush Sr. had Pat Robertson, Carter had Ted Kennedy, Ford had Reagan, and LBJ had McCarthy and RFK.

Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
