Haha, I've been thinking about that ad recently when I was listening to the Clash version..
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Re: Misheard Lyrics
For thirty odd years I've thought the lyric in Wednesday Week by the Undertones was...
But the classroom vision she still can't see
She was the girl for me
But it's actually "With a constant vision"
But the classroom vision she still can't see
She was the girl for me
But it's actually "With a constant vision"

Re: Misheard Lyrics
Yeah me to. I've always sung "classroom vision". I prefer our misheard lyric. Brilliant song.
Forces have been looting
My humanity
Curfews have been curbing
The end of liberty
We're the flowers in the dustbin...
No fuchsias for you.

Re: Misheard Lyrics
I heard "Donald Where's Your Troosers" last night and it dawned on me that the line is:
Through the streets in my kilt I'll go
and not a reference to some obscure Scottish town with:
Through the streets of McKilltargo
This was my one of the my Grandfathers favourite songs so I don't know how many times I've heard it.

I just remember this now, but when I initially heard Guns On The Roof I thought Joe was singing " guns, guns sha la la la".

Re: Misheard Lyrics
For years I could not decipher what Joe mumbles at the end of that track. I used to think it was "it's over now". But Joe bit his tongue during the vocal take and he says "blood in my mouth".

Re: Misheard Lyrics
I liked R.E.M. better when Michael Stipe mumbled the lyrics because it was fun trying to figure out what he was singing. I'd say starting with Life's Rich Pageant he started enunciating more clearly and by Document the mumbling was gone. I think it added to the murky Southern feeling of their music and that something was lost when he changed his style.

I love those early R.E M. albums also. Yeah I agree that unintelligible and nonsense lyrics can be great fun.WestwayKid wrote: ↑15 Nov 2019, 2:47pmI liked R.E.M. better when Michael Stipe mumbled the lyrics because it was fun trying to figure out what he was singing. Re: Misheard Lyrics
Another Joe vocal I always misheard.
From "English Civil War". For years I thought Joe was singing "the sun is shining at the chip shop now".
When it's "the sun is shining the kids are shouting loud".
