Lyceum Dec 29 1978 upgrade?
Lyceum Dec 29 1978 upgrade?
There’s a new(ish) factory pressed bootleg which claims to be an upgrade on the ‘Buy or Die’ CD. This write up mentions a better source and more content here and there. See the track listing comments about Stay Free having ‘the guitar riff is longer than previous’ etc
Chances are it’s nothing that we haven’t already got and shared but can anyone confirm? Is this one for a Marky remaster at some point?

The same label ‘Wardour’ has also issued a 2CD set of the June 17th 1980 Hammersmith Palais show, also claiming to be an upgrade.

Oh man, I'd love legit upgrades of both. Is this another one of those ones you have to buy in Japan like the 1982 Japan show upgrades that popped up a few years ago?JohnS wrote: ↑13 May 2020, 9:18amThere’s a new(ish) factory pressed bootleg which claims to be an upgrade on the ‘Buy or Die’ CD. Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
Re: Lyceum Dec 29 1978 upgrade?
The artwork is certainly not an upgrade.
Who pfaffed the pfaff? Who got pfaffed tonight?
Re: Lyceum Dec 29 1978 upgrade?
It also doesn't match the December 29th setlist: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/the-clas ... 5f920.html
I wish we had BMC up, because I can't easily verify the setlist.fm list. I actually doesn't really match 12/28 or 1/3 either.

But the write-up says it's an upgrade or better version of the source, used on that title. That's what got me thinking.laxman wrote: ↑13 May 2020, 12:07pmIt looks like the same track listing as Buy or Die.

PS it seems this was released in 2018, not as recent as I thought, but it is still available to buy out there.

So Buy or Die is the 29th with a 28th encore tacked on at the end.

I have them both and to my ears they are not an upgrade on my remasters.
I'm almost certain the Lyceum one is taken from my remaster

Marky, have you never thought of "Marking" your remasters A la Mike MillardMarky Dread wrote: ↑14 May 2020, 3:07pmI have them both and to my ears they are not an upgrade on my remasters.

I think he used to insert a note or blip onto his recordings that didn't interfere with the listeners enjoyment, but one he could trace back to its origin.
Apologies if you've already done this

Re: Lyceum Dec 29 1978 upgrade?
No but I would be against that idea. First off Millard had no right to record those concerts in the first place. He gave them to friends etc who he trusted. If they broke that trust then that's a shame.white man wrote: ↑21 May 2020, 3:29amMarky, have you never thought of "Marking" your remasters A la Mike MillardMarky Dread wrote: ↑14 May 2020, 3:07pmI have them both and to my ears they are not an upgrade on my remasters.

These Clash shows are NOT my property. They ARE my remasters only. I only remaster these shows because Mick Jones has said he is happy with this stuff being out on the internet. I just try to present stuff that's mostly available in the best possible sound I can achieve. By doing this I hope in some small way it brings more listeners to the brilliance of The Clash. It's like my way of giving something back.
I will also add that pretending to an invalid in a wheel chair just to record a Led Zeppelin show really sucks.
