Must Bernie Rhodes fall in 82?
Bernie had a lot of good points, they just needed to know when to listen and when to tell him to fuck off.
Yeah, nobody has all the answers.

I remember back when they were supporting the Who on their "final tour" people were comparing the bands and saying it was a passing of the mantle to this young band.

It's 1982 your latest album Combat Rock is just dropping out of the charts. It's reached number 2 in the UK and number 7 in the US. Your band is at its most successful /commercial phase to date. Where do you go from here?
Certainly not pissing about with a silent movie. They should have took a few months off before the US Festival. Then a UK tour in June/July 1983 to bed Pete Howard in, promoting their new live album recorded on their short tour of Texas earlier in the year. Sept/Oct record a new album for release in early '84, preceded by a new double a-side single This Is England/The Bottom Line featuring Don Letts on guest backing vocals and percussion. Proceed to global domination and do not pass go.
What would be the title of the live album?

Nice!

I was going for "The Runaway Scrape".

By the way I've just finished remixing F-punk. It's sounding way better and I will post in the BAD thread later.

As a pop song, how does this rate?
As a pop song it's ok. I think Mika has done better. A pretty tune but the lyrics are a bit shit imo.
Yeah the lyrics are shite. As a tune though it's yet to leave my head, one massive earworm.

Can you tell me about the new studio album in 84?
Presumably the New Orleans thing didn’t happen.

Can you tell me what "This Is England" sounds like with Mick on board and what "The Bottom Line" sounds like with Joe singing?

No, they told Bernie to fuck off.

They got a proper producer called Steve Lillywhite on board for the 1984 album which was called "Top Risk Action Company."

Their best production to date, it combined Mick's futuristic vision with Joe and Paul's desire to make the music a bit tougher.

Another concise 12 song album, tracklisting was as follows...

The Bottom Line
Are You Ready For War?
Three Card Trick
E=MC2
The Prolific
Sudden Impact!
A Party
North and South
Interaction
In the Pouring Pouring Rain
This Is England
Euroshima

Mick added the sweet lead guitar riff that the Clash II version was missing. He also took over on the chorus, singing a searing double tracked chorus line which perfectly counterpointed Joe's gruff verses.

The Bottom Line sounded like Joe singing the Bottom Line.

I think if they'd done This Is England as the Czech Song from 001 with Mick's input it would have been up there with the Clash's best songs.

And no, the Delorean is mine.

No, I prefer all the back street pubs in Newcastle.
