Inspired by Flex's Merle Haggard selection, I'm spinning this today. It took awhile to track down this Bear Family collection at a reasonable price, but well worth it. Wynn was/is the King of the Bakersfield Sound. He helped Buck Owens get his first recording contract with Capitol and a young Hag played in his band (Wynn wrote Haggard's first hit single). The great Ralph Mooney is on peddle steel. I find it crazy (and sad) that he isn't more well known.
Wow, is this the 10 CD box set? Nice.
It is. They've collected every recording he ever made...including some unissued songs. It's hard to find any other decent collections of his material.

Going back to Merle: my library has 3 of their box sets for him, which basically covers everything he recorded before about 1976. It’s amazing.

It has about 7-8 others and they’re all great. Bear Family rules.

Their Haggard collections are incredible. I have the 3 studio sets, but have not gotten around to picking up the live box. They're unmatched for country collections. Their Louvin Brothers box is amazing.

Hello,

Songhoy Blues - Resistance. Western African stuff that has some rock-ish touches. Iggy Pop actually sings on a track (Sahara) - not really sure why as it doesn't seem to fit (Iggy's stuff with Underworld suits him better). Their latest, Meet Me in the City, is like Africa meets the blues.

I definitely agree with both of you. Marky, have you given 40 Years Of The Crack Live a good listen yet? I've not had the chance, but maybe this weekend.
