I saw the Manchester show on the tour, supported by the Professionals. Great show.

I was just checking out Rhythm Collision v2—that is some MUSIC.
They are a great band.
I definitely agree with both of you. Marky, have you given 40 Years Of The Crack Live a good listen yet? I've not had the chance, but maybe this weekend.

No problem.

I have the download, don't have the CDs yet, a lockdown delay. The bits I have listened to sounded great.

Don't know how I only just stumbled over this recently, given that they sound like a slightly smoother Australian Au Pairs.

1979 was a very good year.

Wow, is this the 10 CD box set? Nice.
It is. They've collected every recording he ever made...including some unissued songs. It's hard to find any other decent collections of his material.
Their box sets are fantastic.
Going back to Merle: my library has 3 of their box sets for him, which basically covers everything he recorded before about 1976. It’s amazing.

It has about 7-8 others and they’re all great. Bear Family rules.
Their Haggard collections are incredible. I have the 3 studio sets, but have not gotten around to picking up the live box. They're unmatched for country collections. Their Louvin Brothers box is amazing.
Speaking of Bear Family box sets, this beauty arrived the other day.

Hello,

Songhoy Blues - Resistance. Western African stuff that has some rock-ish touches. Iggy Pop actually sings on a track (Sahara) - not really sure why as it doesn't seem to fit (Iggy's stuff with Underworld suits him better). Their latest, Meet Me in the City, is like Africa meets the blues.

I like it.

Though I haven't properly heard this album I got immediate nostalgia from seeing this as it's one of my dad's favourites. He didn't always listen to Phil Collins.

Funny, I associate with my older sister, who had the album. Quite strange, in retrospect, as her tastes were not cool at all.

I know I've cited this before, but the 3-volume Subnormal Girls, collecting a lot of obscure early punk and post-punk women's bands, is one of the best fucking compilations I've ever heard. The male groups of the period are the ones who ended up in the books and documentaries, but this is the stuff that validates punk for me. It's mostly rudimentary, but it sounds sincere as hell to me.
