I couldn't tell you a single song her band did.

I used to have a crush on the bassist, if that helps.

There’s one song on an early album where she screams “get out of my house” in a tone so identical to my mother that in high school it triggered what I now know to be a PTSD episode.

EDIT: it’s “Teenage Whore” the first song off the first album. Thanks google.

For the record, that album seemed decent enough in my memory. I think she’s unfairly maligned by Nirvana fans.

Googled the bass player, too. Melissa Auf der Maur. Nice German sounding name, I really should have remembered.

Perhaps as a musician she was decent, but she was personally an eager manipulator. She very quickly started telling KC over and over that he was the only one with any talent in the band, that everyone else is using him, that he shouldn't be hanging out with any of his old friends anymore. She got him to insist on rewriting the royalty sharing agreement. She found a person amenable to manipulation and she took full advantage. She may have genuinely loved him and all that, but her introduction encouraged him to isolate himself from friends.

She's a leach.

I think some of her music has been great. I'm just not liking her very much.

She is very hard to like, but I have a soft spot for her.

Interesting. Never liked anything i heard about her personally but it was the fact that i regularly see her name on those lists of greatest female rock stars that had me wondering was that purely hype over substance. She might have some decent songs but thats some company she's keeping, i cant believe she belongs anywhere up there.

I've never been keen on her going back to when she was so desperate to play Nancy Spungen. Thank God for Chloe Webb who was brilliant. I don't hate her and she doesn't upset me with her antics like she does some people. She just comes across as an annoying brat.

...but Hole have made some good stuff without a doubt.

I mean, neither does Joan Jett, but she's always up there too. I think a lot of times those lists, especially when it comes to women, never dig deep at all.
