Two votes per person in this one. Top two vote getters move on unless one gets over 50%.

Lots of incredible songs, going with my offering (Against Me!) and Gladys Knight.

That was hard. Intended to vote for my own (Blondie) but had to go Kate Bush and Against Me!

Blondie and Kate Bush. It was a tough decision not to vote for Joan Jett.

Hello,

I'm still going with Bad Reputation - a great, energetic kick-off.

I really like Against Me and forgotten about Laura Jane's transition. I'm going to post something by them in later rounds.

Doc, you didn't cover transitional singers in your rules. Can I nominate anything by Against Me or do I have to limit my choices to post-transition?

I mentioned it in #1, but if the singer identified as a woman at that point of the song, they're eligible. Generally, tho, I think we should err on the side of openness.

The standard in the trans community is they were always a woman, but as in all things there is debate.

It seems the tension between interiority and exteriority. A person might have always understood themselves to be transgender or at least aware that social norms and appearances aren't sync'ing internally, but to the outside world they aren't recognized as such until they announce it (the power of the hetero normative!). I can appreciate both positions, but we should make this as open as possible in terms of nominations (and life generally).

I must say I find that Kate Bush song (and Kate in general) massively overrated.

I need to listen to her. I know Ive heard her but really need to give it a go. Against Me have never done much for me. Ive tried and tried over the years and always been underwhelmed.

I think Wuthering Heights is an amazing song. Couple of other good tracks here and there but just too whacky and weird for my tastes.

Her music is an inverted bell curve for me. I either think a song is fantastic or I despise it. Tho, admittedly, I only know her singles.

Not the biggest fan of hers but can't deny she has a quite incredible list of achievements to her name. Sure i read somewhere she was first female artist to have a No.1 with a self composed song and only 3 have ever done it.
