Re: Mandela Affect
I'm only an active member of this forum now. I stopped posting on the football one I used to go on because I fell out of love with football a bit. Something I never thought would happen.

Re: Mandela Affect
Since COVID I have gone the other way and realised how much I missed it.
I’m loving the fixture pile up at the moment and can’t wait for the ECL snd Europa League mini tournaments.
I watch a lot of European football too, more than ever.

Re: Mandela Affect
It started losing it's lustre about 3 years ago for me and I can't put my finger on the reason. Sunderland have always been shit so it's not that. I used to watch MotD religiously but don't even bother now.101Walterton wrote: ↑15 Jul 2020, 6:27pmSince COVID I have gone the other way and realised how much I missed it.

Nah, I don't hate any teams apart from Newcastle. Success never makes me resent anyone.101Walterton wrote: ↑15 Jul 2020, 6:35pmSmug Liverpool affect?Heston wrote: ↑15 Jul 2020, 6:31pmIt started losing it's lustre about 3 years ago for me and I can't put my finger on the reason. I've kind of gone through that with baseball. I still love the sport, but the league has been atrocious in so many ways and the owners of my team are the fucking worst people on earth.Heston wrote: ↑15 Jul 2020, 6:31pmIt started losing it's lustre about 3 years ago for me and I can't put my finger on the reason. Yes owners are the worst issue and the more the club is worth the worse the options seem to be.Wolter wrote: ↑15 Jul 2020, 8:39pmI've kind of gone through that with baseball. Luckily, as a Boston sports fan, I've never had those sorts of problems.

Re: Mandela Affect
I agree owners of big clubs are in the main horrible unscrupulous parasites, but at the same time they are just doing what they were born to do which is serving the bottom line and generating profit from ever loyal "consumers". I blame those who sold the sports out to them and those who stood idly by and let it happen.
Other big issue is simple over saturation. I remember not long ago, the 1990s in fact, when there was just The Big Match on Sunday afternoons on itv, MOTD on saturday night and then maybe European or international stuff occasionally on weekdays and you couldn't wait for it. Now it's like that Mitchell and Webb sketch - "there will be football on this weekend" - and just very little of it truly excites me anymore and i dont know how much of that is just getting old!

It was touching to see how quickly our young Gene became Fyvush Finkel.
