Wow, that's really sad. Crazily enough...we were going through a box of movies Saturday and I pulled out a copy of The Commitments and my girlfriend said she had never seen it, but that it looked interesting...so we put it on the slate to watch with the kids.
I recall that being a fun watch.
The missuz and I quite dug both The Commitments and The Snapper (the latter is a sequel in the original novels, not in the films). My desire to punch the trumpet guy in The Commitments is still quite strong.
I saw it so long ago I cant recall him
You'd want to punch him, too.
He is super, super annoying.

I only had two years until I crossed the Brimley/Cocoon line. Dammit.
Did 50 yo people just look much older 30 to 40 years ago?
I think so, but Brimley especially. He was only 49 when he started filming Cocoon! I'll be 49 on Thursday.

I keep thinking you are like 38.

Then I remember I'm now 37.

Commitments was a good film, funny.

Matt Patrol just told me he thinks it's the best "let's put a band together" film. Can't think of too many other candidates, but it was enough to pique my interest. I only remember it being out around the time Freddy's Dead the Final Nightmare came out which was early September 1991. Also there was a performance of "Try a Little Tenderness" from the movie that aired on VH1 a lot at the time.

I can't state with absolute certainty, but I've never met a Molly Hatchet fan.

You're thinking of April Wine. Totally, uh, different.
