The Ultimate Women's Album - Side 1 Track 6 Vote - Round 1a

Post by Dr. Medulla »

I let nominations run a bit longer this time because the number was lighter than usual despite having more songs to pick from. Regardless, let's declare most of them unworthy now! Organized in alphabetical order by nominator.

99 Luftballoons is just such a cool song. It goes in so many directions and they all work. I went with that and Go Gos because that's a fun one.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

If X-Ray Spex doesn’t make it past this round, this board hates punk.

I've never really liked much punk apart from the main players, who I mostly love. I know this is an unpopular opinion but I could never get away with X-Ray Spex, just don't like the vocals.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

You’ve never been one to court popularity... I mean except when justifying Kiss...

I forgot to relisten to this song. I should have voted for this instead of Go Gos. The band is on fire - those electric guit leads and horns.

I'm going to break my self-imposed rule of non-interference here, but if "Identity" wins, "Bondage" wouldn't be eligible for the non-album flexi track at the end. Not advocating, only pointing out an implication.

The band is indeed on fire, love the backing track.

There won't be a clusterfuck, tho. If "Identity" wins, that's that for the Spex. I'm only suggesting that there is some strategizing/gambling in what to nominate/vote for, and that it might mean sacrificing "Bondage" down the road.

I do not trust this board to not vote some dumbass novelty song from 1972 that no one in America has ever heard instead.

Missed out on making a nomination.
Voted for Talk Of The Town and 99 Luftballoons. Love both of these songs.

I voted Nena mainly out of patriotism.
