Ugh, hot coffee on a warm morning just makes me start to sweat earlier in a day than I'm going to. It's going to be a hot one today (actually hot, not just bay area hot).
I don't know whether this is a medical urban myth or not, but I've long heard hot beverages on a hot day makes it seem less hot outside because your inside temperature increases. I suspect it's bullshit.
When I was in England last, it was hot as hell out, and we went to high tea. It was actually pretty satisfying to drink some hot tea on such a hot day. Under shade, of course, but still very hot. I may have felt differently if the sun was blasting me.
It's not like cold food is popular in perpetually hot and muggy locations. Pho is an obvious example (though I don't know if it's popularity in Vietnamese-American cuisine is representative of its popularity in Vietnam).
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

My wife just got pissed and locked me outside. I still have access to the beer fridge in the garage though so check and mate.
Im not banging on any fucking doors.

She doesn't like me sitting outside in the evenings after 7pm. Fuck that Im holed up all fucking winter. The weather is nice Im gonna sit outside and enjoy it.
And her reasoning is .... what?
Right. I would give anything to have my husband sit outside for as long as he wants. I need alone time.

Tea is the most thirst quenching drink on a hot day.

Things aren't quite as dire as it may sound. But between covid and winter that lasts so long here I cherish time outdoors. I am ready to buy a firepit so I can stay out even longer in the season.

When I move to Vermont I'm gonna build a fire pit, a sauna hut, and a hot tub.

My mum used to give it to us as kids (and the dog).

Oh god, don't drink that bottled shit. That's not even tea. Brewed is the only way to go.

I've confessed here before that until we moved to NC, our iced tea was powdered. Horrible, I know. The deserved scorn we received was significant. Properly brewed iced tea is proof of god's grace.
