Revbob will NOT like The Beautiful South.
Now Im intrigued...

Although I think James is probably mostly referring to lyrical content.

Will check it out later but in terms of this situation it would need to be incredibly good to beat most of the songs put forth thus far.

The question that comes to my mind and I think to many of us here, as with all 101 nominations is what is the life experience that 101 attaches to this song?

Tracey Ullman - They Don't Know

I'm breaking my rule of not commenting on nominees, but I have to say that I love this song.

Yep a really great melody by the much missed Kirsty. She's on backing vocals as well.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

I went with the "anywhere" possibility.

I always liked the Kirsty McColl original but just played them back to back, not much between them.

Yeah, a fag paper between them.

My favourite is actually by this internet guy. I think I've posted it before but it's a lovely Byrdsian take on the song...

We've only got 12 nominations so far—a bit over half of what was happening at the start—so I'll keep this open til noonish (my time) tomorrow for any stragglers.

Weekends are a tough time.

I don't remember Doc's longwinded and ultimately toothless rules, but I think this nomination qualifies:

Arcade Fire - Haiti
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
