Leaving behind the recent unpleasantness, we renew our vows by voting.

Re: The Ultimate Women's Album - Side 2 Track 2 Vote - Round 1b
With apologies to PJ Harvey and The Beautiful South (and sorta The Pretenders, tho not my fave from them), I'm going with two songs I was unfamiliar with until these nominations: The Noisettes and Ruby Velle. Top tunes that I'll be adding into my regular rotation.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead
Pex Lives!

I didn't recognise the Noisettes song until I played it and I knew it immediately. It must have got some airplay over here. Good song, and I'm voting for it along with Tracey.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Well I've listened to all of the tracks nominated at least a couple of times, unless they were obviously terrible. I'm making a conscious effort to expand my musical horizons or I would just listen to Clash bootlegs and Abba all day. And on at least a couple of occasions in this competition I've gone with something I've never heard before. That Against Me! song from an earlier round is great and I have it in regular rotation at the moment.

it's great, to me, that Abaddon has come to this mortal plain

Hopefully the album rather than the song. Though in honesty it's one of their lesser efforts. Good cover of Then She Kissed Me and Christine Sixteen is a neat little song despite it's very dubious lyric.revbob wrote: ↑24 Aug 2020, 5:46pmSo I was listening to Love Gun earlier...Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑24 Aug 2020, 4:24pmYou think I wanted that? One of the most even rounds yet so far.

Hadn't heard of any of these songs before. Even Pretenders. Went with Ruby Velle and the Rotterdam song. I liked them a lot.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Pretenders is my favourite song here but they're all top notch, hard pick.
