I wasn't a huge fan of his when he was being feted here tbh -- some great defensive plays, but it felt like most of the time he'd take lousy routes and needlessly turn relatively routine outfield flys into something requiring highlight-reel catches. Also, he would swing at literally everything.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑22 Aug 2020, 9:29pmGotta give Pillar credit, he's playing like a crazy mofo and hopefully earns a trade to a contender. Never really liked him when he was on the Jays, but the guy goes all-out all the time.

That was my impression, too. Great fielders make it look easy, not hard. But in a shitty fucked up season, seeing him play like his life is on the line is pretty cool theatre.Inder wrote: ↑23 Aug 2020, 5:43pmI wasn't a huge fan of his when he was being feted here tbh -- some great defensive plays, but it felt like most of the time he'd take lousy routes and needlessly turn relatively routine outfield flys into something requiring highlight-reel catches. I'd be as amazed if the intro said, All of these people have been major leaguers since 2006.

We all know who would have joined the Bund in the 30s. And would have cheered when MLK was assassinated.

Re: MLB 2020
Just looked and at the standings. If the season ended today, the Yankees would somehow miss the playoffs altogether. That'd definitely take some of the salt off this shitastic Sox team.

If the Yankees don't win the WS—even better, somehow miss the playoffs—I'll mark this down as a good season. I got to see lots of Red Sox plahyers throw their first and probably last pitch in the majors, too.

Anyone want a bad catcher with a good arm and can sometimes hit big home runs?
