A hilariously sloppy and inept gig. It has its charm, tho.

Listening to JS 001. Great product (we could argue all day about songs left off but that isn’t the point of my post).

I love the fact that a lot of time and effort has clearly been put into the track sequencing because I think it is spot on.

It's great. No argument. ;)

This album is 22 years old today and it is still fantastic. God bless the Manics.

Various Artists - No Future Complete Singles Collection: Th Sound of UK 82 (2020)

Great new collection from Captain Oi. I basically did my own version of this some years ago sifting through various collections to get this all together. I do believe this is the first official digital release of a few of these tracks, tho. Mastering on some of those older CDs is better but it's real nice to have all these songs in one place at last. One of punk's greatest labels. Going from that first Blitz single to that last Screaming Dead EP is quite the wild ride.

I like The Partisans "Police Story" is a classic, and Peter & The Test Tube Babies are fun. I saw Blitz live and they were decent.

Just in case you ever wondered about that intro to "Police Story" Flex its taken from this.

The new James Dean Bradfield LP is really, really great. A song cycle celebrating the life of Victor Jara. The story is that poet (and brother of Nicky Wire) Patrick Jones had written a collection of poems about Jara, but had not planned on publishing them. Bradfield then hit on the idea of setting the words to music.

Music definitely has shades of the Manics, but he mixes in some different sounds. I think it's some of his best songwriting in years.

I also like how the songs don't focus on Jara's death, but rather highlight who he was: his story, his influences.

JDB said he discovered Jara through The Clash (just as I did) and I think somewhere Joe is digging this album. You all should, too ;).

Ordered a signed copy of this from the Manics website only last night. Looking forward to it even more now. :approve:
