Look at Mark's pose in Panel 3. Keep looking. Keep looking. Eventually it becomes funny as hell. Or maybe because I'm thinking of Choo Choo the Herky Jerky Dancer.
Again, no apparent concern for Tabby.
Yeah, Mark is losing me in this story over his feline apathy.
Apathy, he hates cats.

When I was in high school I worked in a state run camp ground and people would leave cats/litters of kittens there. It was pretty far from anything else, not quite lost forrest but away from where any people lived. Im pretty sure my boss who lived on site would kill them.
I'm officially on Team Dirty Dyer.
The profile of Cherry in panel 3 could almost be Mark in drag.

Also, instead of rushing out the door all herky jerky, shouldn't he be calling Doc Davis?

"Don't worry about the cat, Mark."
*Mark quickly thinks, "Yes, pretend I'm not an asshole and that I am worried about the cat, too.*

Meanwhile, the giant porcupine(?) smiles at the misery. "Yes, it's all coming together, exactly as I foretold," it thinks …

Am I right to assume "take her to lost forest" means "tie her in a burlap sack and throw her in the river"?

There are very few freaky fetishes that I would rule out of Rusty's playbook.

Mark to Cherry upon discovering Rusty's latest secret:
Im sure its just a phase. Before you know it he'll be going to sock hops and meeting girls down at the ice cream parlor.

Cherry: Mark you know he's not our biological son right?

Cherry: You're a wildlife expert? Plus you keep insisting that we sleep in twin beds.
Mark laughing: Oh Cherry, still the same innocent woman I married.

Cherry to herself : That's not what the boys down at the Rod n Reel say...
(aloud:)
Mark I just remembered that tonight is book club night so I'll be going to Susie's after dinner. If it gets too late I may stay over, you know I dont like driving when its too late.

Mark: You should host a book club meeting here sometime. I have lots of books we could talk about and you could make your famous pancakes.
