Confusion hits us every time. This is why I suggested the alphabetical...ah never mind.
This would be solved by following my suggestion of a laying of hands approach—whoever went last picks the next victim. Seemingly you're dumping it all on Tom to keep track and anoint the next person.

I've got five on deck and ready to go, but I assumed there was an order and someone would yell at me to go when it was my turn. If we need a new five, I'm available.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Get out the way, bitch! Get out the way!

He's Making a Tape - WIld Billy Childish and the MBEs. Low slung punk-pop with a sneering, hurt vocal that's equally seductive and doesn't give a shit with a melody that won't quit. Reaffirms a love of music.

Looking for a Job - Todd Snider. A truth is only known by guttersnipe lyric with a country singer-songwriter bent who'll knock his boss the hell out.

Jim on the Move - Lizzy Mercier Descloux. Groovy, edgy, and sweet with a swagger rarely found.

Fade Away - Junior Byles. Both the original and dubwise version, the way it's supposed to be heard, get lost in the groove and get found by the soulful blast of the singer.

Colour In Your Cheeks - The Mountain Goats. I love his guitar sound, I love the lyrics, pleased to meet you / one of us. I could maybe do with a different singer, but maybe that's part of the charm of the whole?

I'm a fan of WBC ever since the Pop Rivets and The Milkshakes. Via The Mighty Caesars and numerous other bands. In my opinion he is a wonder. This track is fun with The Clash and Ramones at It's core structure. What's not too like. 8/10

Looking for a Job - Todd Snider
Didn't do a lot for me this one. But nothing to dislike either. Didn't inspire me much though. 5/10

Jim on the Move - Lizzy Mercier Descloux
Has that Slits feel to it. Not bad maybe a couple more listens are in order. 7/10

Fade Away - Junior Byles
Another one I'm familiar with. Similar to many others of that era. But I like this stuff.
8/10

Colour In Your Cheeks - The Mountain Goats
I couldn't get into this. Seems like it's trying too hard. Is there a full band version of this? Or is it just a solo project? 5/10

Solid lo-fi garage punk. These are the kinds of songs that validate punk to me. These are the ones that truly sound like anyone can do this. A couple minutes of banging out something simple and direct.

Looking for a Job - Todd Snider.
Solid lyrically, but the sound is generic bar band, which I have to be a few beers in to appreciate. Unfortunately, it's too early in the day for me as I listen.

Jim on the Move - Lizzy Mercier Descloux.
Holy crap—you dig LMD? I love her to pieces. A deep shame that more people don't know about her (alas, RIP). Check out her ep released under the name Rosa Yemen—another beautiful slice of no wave. Anyway, this reminds me of a cooler version of Paul Simon's Graceland. But you made my day by highlighting Lizzy.

Fade Away - Junior Byles.
I've only heard the cover by the New Age Steppers, with Ari Up's squawk. This has a more confident laid back sound, tho I'm not certain I prefer it to the NAS version.

Colour In Your Cheeks - The Mountain Goats.
I suspect I'd like this more if I heard a full band version first. That is, the stripped down sound might work better if I was also mentally contrasting it with a thicker version. Otherwise, it sounds like a guy messing around on his guitar.

1. He's Making a Tape - WIld Billy Childish and the MBEs.
Endearingly low-fi and cute, good subject matter too. Almost seems like a female version of Jilted John. 7/10

2. Looking for a Job - Todd Snider.
Kind of reminds me of the Steve Miller Band vocally. That Americana thing isn't really my bag. Good sentiments though. 5/10

3. Jim on the Move - Lizzy Mercier Descloux.
Sorry, not for me. I played all the chosen tracks four or five times (as I think everyone should), but had to stop this after 2 minutes, safe in the knowledge I would never like it. 0/10

4. Fade Away - Junior Byles.
I predictably dig this one. Has that foreboding biblical feel that I like in my Reggae. 8/10

5. Colour In Your Cheeks - The Mountain Goats
I'm not feally a fan of that singer/songwriter acoustic sound. Maybe if it were a fully realised production with a band I would enjoy it more, but a bit quirky for me. 4/10
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Wht's not to love, great sound and love the vocals too, seductive indeed.
7.5/10

Looking for a Job - Todd Snider.
Liked it lyrically, not a big fan of the style although it reminds me a bit of Steve Earle, it grows on me a bit.
6/10

Jim on the Move - Lizzy Mercier Descloux.
Kept waiting for it to go somewhere...it didnt't 0/10

Fade Away - Junior Byles
Good reggae track, lyrics are good a bit long is all. 6/10

Colour In Your Cheeks - The Mountain Goats
I think I like this better than most. I'm not real familiar with the Mt Goats
but FWIW I believe it started out as just the one guy with his acoustic guitar so I think that's pretty typical.
I liked it lyrically but it isnt something I'd seek out but would prefer it over a lot of stuff I hear.
In general, I'm not sure it (Mt Goats) would hold my attention for too long.
6.5/10

My 5 are ready to go for next Monday, no piddling about this time.

Good stuff. I hope a few more reviews come in for Maj's choices because I think this is a great exercise and I don't want it to fizzle out.
