The more I listen to this album, the more it grows on me. Take this heavy as fuck number, great riff, cool as fuck and one of the very few times screaming on a record doesn't annoy me. 3.25 it starts and it just works. The bass at 5.15 is also the dog's.

Tom have you ever listened to "Troublegum" by Therapy? ? I think it would be right up your alley.
I haven't but will give it a go in a bit.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

Though the Load era didn't present the best of their work, they did produce this beauty. Good old fashioned rock n roll, struts in cool as fuck with that bass followed by that meaty guitar crunch.

I on the other hand, highly rate the Load era, if only because they said "goddamn it, I'm sick to death of metal and want to try something else," and then they did. I consider them weak as fuck for not staying the course.

Very good point on the way they went about it. Think it was one of your posts that made me laugh when their advertisement for the album constituted of just saying it was 78 minutes in length or something similar.

I think Hetfield's voice is a weak point for the band and I think the Load era emphasizes his vocals too much. Plenty of songs I liked at the time and still think are pretty good, but the general direction exposed some weaknesses.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Painting & decorating most of the day with ...And Justice For All on in the background, made it more bearable and always forget how fucking good the album is, this one Havester Of Sorrow especially is fantastic. Heavy as fuck and Hetfield's vocals are spot on.

You may have a point, but set that aside and give your ears a treat.

 The title just tickled me, they're all so serious and and pretendy demonic when they were probably off playing golf after they cut the track. I will listen to it though, right now.
