I love the Gene Colan work, but how could I not wish we had a series of Marvel Dracula drawn by Jack Kirby?

*Stephen Sadjak's Stan Lee Voice* See, I decided to give the cursed count a giant hat. That's what's really scary. I think King Kirby was out at lunch when I made that choice about the giant hat.Wolter wrote: ↑21 Dec 2020, 7:35pmSomehow Dracula would have crazy future tech and a giant hat.Silent Majority wrote: ↑21 Dec 2020, 7:20pmI love the Gene Colan work, but how could I not wish we had a series of Marvel Dracula drawn by Jack Kirby?

For Heston to kick back to.

Bill Aucoin, shopping the band's demo tape: "I believe in this group. One, I think the demo is good. Two, I think they've got a tremendous and very positive energy. Three, I don't think their egos are going to get in the way of their career."
#3 is, um, a mixed assessment.

Re: The KISS thread
Gene Simmons sucks.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Re: The KISS thread
An observation: I'm quite surprised to find that there isn't much scholarly work on KISS, and what I've found has been really crap. They're especially rich for analysis and critique of music and marketing, yet nuttin'. Very, very weird.

Oh, while I’m thinking about KISS and academia, I think I’ve mention before that I took a Music Appreciation course in college for an easy elective and in the very brief section on rock music in my textbook the only example of a punk band they used was KISS.

You should have been suspicious when the author also called Shakin' Stevens the thinking man's Elvis.Wolter wrote: ↑14 Jan 2021, 10:15pmThat’s wild.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑14 Jan 2021, 9:21pmAn observation: I'm quite surprised to find that there isn't much scholarly work on KISS, and what I've found has been really crap.
