Like the Shoot-Your-Eye-Out Boba Fett figure (with spring-loaded missile) that was never released.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑25 Dec 2020, 9:05pmHad no idea they were so short-lived or controversial—the sure sign of an awesome toy!Kimmelweck wrote: ↑25 Dec 2020, 8:49pmYeah that's probably how long mine lasted. I remember sending in a bunch of proof-of-purchase seals for that one and being deeply bummed that the missile wouldn't fire.

I don't know that one, but I had a Cylon raider that fired little plastic missiles. Got that just before it was taken off the market and replaced with missiles that just popped out like pointy nipples.Kimmelweck wrote: ↑25 Dec 2020, 9:13pmLike the Shoot-Your-Eye-Out Boba Fett figure (with spring-loaded missile) that was never released.

There's a great documentary that came out a few years ago, called Plastic Galaxy, about Star Wars toys. Worth tracking down. The original movie really changed the whole toy culture. The documentary goes into detail about the Early Bird Special, the spring-loaded Boba Fett, etc. The success of the first movie caught everyone by surprise and Kenner had to scramble to get toys designed. Really interesting story. I remember whole department store aisles lined with Star Wars stuff for most of my childhood, and then around 1985-ish *poof* nothing.

I've taken my Star Wars-related discussion to the Star Wars thread.
