A Bunch of Fives (New Challenge Thread)
Re: A Bunch of Fives (New Challenge Thread)
I have to get back on this, I fell way behind because of work this month.

No worries, Silent! I'm glad it's wasn't me slipping up. I'm flattered to have been the sole beneficiary!

This isn't the Revbob I know.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Hello,
Appendix:
The Dead Milkmen - It's okay but too campy/novelty - as well as a bad decision to cover this as who could top Groucho? 5/10
Richard & Linda Thompson - This started out well as you described, but then horns - they don't fit, in my opinion - I hoped they stuck with something more minimal. 6/10

Re: A Bunch of Fives (New Challenge Thread)
Anyone else got comments for Jame's 5 ?
Looks like it is my turn although I still have some overdue assignments.
Here goes...especially for Heston this is the all hot rockabilly chick edition of my bunch of 5.
Imelda May - Roadrunner
I dont recall how I came across her music but I heard it before I saw a video (lest someone think I was drawn in simply because she's a hot rockabilly chick). I already love some rockabilly and Im a sucker for good female vocals. The song rocks and is fun so I like it.
Tammi Savoy - When Your Lover Dont Love You
She came up in my YouTube feed (a lot of which I ignore).
What is the essence of rockabilly a good beat, good guitar and good vocals, check, check, check.
Jessica Lee Wilkes - Groove's too Shallow
Love that intro. Jessica is married to JD Wilkes of The Legendary Shack Shakers and they also do some work together with the Dirt Daubers, where I first heard her sing. Like most of the music in this 5, I just find it fun and upbeat, there's horns too, you gotta love horns.
Samantha Fish - Crow Jane
Samantha is a blues guitarist. She did an album of covers of older songs with the Detroit Cobras as her band except she does the singing and some of the guitar work. I enjoy a lot of her regular work this was a big departure in some ways and annoyed a lot of her fan base which probably makes me like it more. Stuff like this gives me reason to go back and explore the originals which is fun and exposed me to artists I didn't know.
Sarah Shook - Nothin Feels Right but Doin Wrong
Sarah appeals to my dark side. I think for her I was looking at the Bloodshot Records catalog and came across her. Pulled her up on the youtubes and Immediately loved it. Got to see her live in Nov 2019. Great show. I think Kaleb would approve.

Imelda May - Roadrunner
Already a fan I saw her live at the Royal Albert Hall a few years back playing with Jeff Beck. She's great. 8/10
Tammi Savoy - When Your Lover Dont Love You
Much more traditional sounding rockabilly. Again I'm familiar as rev gave me an upload of their album. Solid 8/10
Jessica Lee Wilkes - Groove's too Shallow
Excellent intro and I know The Legendary Shack Shakers. This is some solid rockabilly and I dig it. 8/10
Samantha Fish - Crow Jane
Again what's not to like. Another top track. 7/10
Sarah Shook - Nothin Feels Right but Doin Wrong
Another solid track. Much more darker and has an indie rockabilly vibe. Not as twisted as The Cramps but mines a similar furrow.
All these tracks could easily sit together side by side on a comp called "Revbob's Rockabilly Chicks Vol. 1".
There even though you didn't bother to review my last 5, I didn't hold it against you.

Shit. Missed this altogether. I will seek to disparage these in the next day or two.
