Magical Mystery Tour - Side B - Round 3

Post by WestwayKid »

I hope Heston returns in time to defend Penny Lane for another round.

SFF is the clear winner of this side for me, so my vote comes down to the 2 remaining McCartney tracks and I've really grown to like Hello, Goodbye.

I've always liked this cover (with James McCartney on keyboards). Lyrically very simple, but it's a really catchy song.

Pretty sure Doc conspired to get me banned for a day so Penny Lane would go out. It lives to fight another day.

I'm basically fine with with AYNIL going last round - I honestly don't have strong enough opinions about the Beatles to take too much umbrage in voting off reactionary hippie schlock over reactionary nostalgic schlock, and as Doc pointed out most of the arguments against one worked for the other too - but if you all vote off hello goodbye before penny lane I'm alerting the FBI that we probably have Trump insurrectionists posting here.

People are awful. Penny Lane is going to win the side.

It's not that good. Just better than you give it credit for.

Yeah, looking at these results, I think I'm done with these Beatles polls. It really is dispiriting to see how many like songs about being old and reject stuff that has more energy.

Sorry you feel that way Doc. I was personally enjoying the contrasting votes and opinions, which I assumed were just the usual IMCT banter.

The banter is always fun, but I love this band enough that seeing so many excellent song go down against relatively tame options is depressing. I sincerely think SFF might get passed up for PL, which is utterly depressing.

I was surprised by the sudden turn against Hello Goodbye, but there is no way PL will beat SFF in the face off.

No chance that SFF won't beat PL. SFF is way too strong.

An all timer. Tune, lyrics, execution, production all 10/10.
