Ive said it before there are no poor people owning baseball teams, some owners are willing to spend and others aren't.
Yup. It's a matter of how much they prioritize profits above trying to win. For all his many, many faults, I'll always credit Steinbrenner for wanting the Yankees to win. In terms of attitude, he was an ideal owner. That he couldn't stay the fuck out of things and leave it to people who knew what they were doing was his problem.

There was a story about how the Jays' spending is somewhat hamstrung by the way they're slotted into Rogers' media division, which could be sorted out if they spin the team out into its own entity under the corporate umbrella. The way it works now is complicated and requires some fancy accounting stuff, I believe.

And to be fair, they've gone in and spent when the team had those 2014-2017ish runs and have occasionally brought in a Name FA like Kim, but it's frustrating that they don't take advantage of their financial muscle to be more aggressive and assertive.

Would have made sense if they had an extension in place, but would've been v risky if he's going to test FA.

That Twins one approaches existentialist riddle. The Giants is saying the quiet part loud.

MLB Network is showing Game 7 of the '91 WS. Tuned in at the top of the eighth. I would have a been a complete mess watching that game in the stands. Scoreless ties are sitting under an anvil with a parasol.

Looks like Pedey is done:

Endless fuck yous to Machado. Dunno what Pedroia's overall career arc would have been, but you don't want to see players' careers cut down because of dirty play and injuries caused by other players. Assuming he ends it officially, it's for sure the end of an era (and last Boston guy who came up when I was still in college, I believe).
