Just watched Ransom (1996) with Mel Gibson. Really solid action thriller but Gibson's acting is a bit over the top.
was that the GIVE ME BACK MY SON movie?
Yeah that line alone was enough to not watch it.
I never saw it either
In the land of Hestonia that's a capital offense.

I saw half of a silent Russian movie called Solome a few years ago on TCM and it was fucking baddass, I've been dying to see it again ever since.

Hunted (2020) A woman is abducted from a bar by two creeps who want to shoot a rape-porn on their camcorder, but end up chasing her through the woods until she musters up the courage to fight back. Dull characters, and to be honest, by the time the action started my brain had checked out. I’ll have to give this a thumbs down.

Uncle Peckerhead (2020) A punk band on tour is surprised to find that their recently adopted van driver and honorary roadie turns into a cannibalistic demon every night at midnight in this fun, gory comedy with a very likeable cast.

Queen of Black Magic (2019) Indonesian remake of a 1981 film of the same name, written by the same guy who did Impetigore an Satan’s Slaves. A family and some friends return to the orphanage where they grew up to visit their former caregiver, now on his deathbed. An evil spirit is out for revenge when it the institution’s dirty little secrets are uncovered. Not as good as the other two, but not bad either. I would be interested in the original.

Come Back to Me (2014) A young woman who lives with her husband in suburban Las Vegas begins to suffer from night terrors and time loss, which turns her world upside down. Could it have something to do with the creepy young man who moved in across the street? Now this one was right up my alley. It kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat, with several things I didn’t see coming, not to mention a dynamite ending. Try not to find out too much about this one, not knowing was the fun. I shouted at my TV screen more than once. OK, that was my 5 years ago review, I still enjoyed the rewatch, but nothing beats the first time!

Rocktober Blood (1984) A heavy metal singer murders his band, then returns from the dead to wreak more havoc when the band reunites with a new singer. Sounds OK, but no, this was one of the worst things I had ever seen. Some nudity but it’s far away and kinda blurry. Maybe it was the print (I saw it on youtube), but nothing could have saved this.

Head Count (2018) Pot smoking college kids in the desert are plagued by an entity that mimics the members of their group. Dullsville, USA, I thought.

Knife of Ice (1972) Carroll Baker has been mute since a tragic accident involving her parents as a child. The visitation of a cousin seems to spark a string of murders around her. Carroll did four gialli in the early 70s with Umberto Lenzi, this one was loaded with suspects. I’m not sure I liked the ending, but a fun ride overall.

Rondo (2018) Low budget pulp with a ton of bullets, about a young woman out for revenge against a secret society sex/murder club. Some nudity, and the main character spends the entire 3rd act in her underwear. Good would be a stretch, I’d say it was watchable.

Into the Dark: Tentacles (2021) After a pandemic-long layoff, HULU’s mediocre movie of the month is back, and it’s as mediocre as ever. A young woman on the run and hiding a secret moves in with her new boyfriend but her past soon catches up. This movie could have used a lot more tentacles. It did have an actor named Evan Williams, I guess Jack Daniels was busy.

Antebellum (2020) OK, I like the “woke horror” movement, but this heavy-handed, predictable “mystery” was out of surprises in 10 minutes. I can’t imagine anyone could not have had this figured out. Or if it even supposed to be a surprise? Well, one thing that DID surprise me was that some cracker-ass-crackers were listening to “Warm Leatherette” by the Normal in a car instead of something more cracker-friendly.

After Midnight (2019) Ever since his girlfriend left him, poor ol’ Hank is visited by a creature who claws up his front door every night in this allegoric horror-drama from the makers of The Battery. I’m afraid I didn’t like it.

The Hidden Face (2011) An orchestra conductor's girlfriend leaves him in the opening scene. It's not too long before he moves a new girl into his rented Colombian mansion, but she gets a creepy feel about the place. And cops keep coming by, since no one has seen a trace of his ex since she left. That's about all I can say without ruining the delightful twists and turns in this one. Lots of nudity, and the girl could pass for a supermodel. 2nd watch for me.

The Seventh Curse (1986) A young doctor/cop gets a blood curse while rescuing a damsel in distress from “the Worm Tribe” in Thailand, that makes his skin pop little blood squibs. The beauty cures him temporarily by pulling a tumor out of her tit and feeding it to him, but a year later the affliction returns so it’s back to jungles of Thailand to battle witchcraft and skeletons with glowing eyes in this zany action-horror hybrid from Hong King. The version I saw was dubbed into English.

‘Salem’s Lot (Made-For-TV 2004) I just finished the book for the first time, and I honestly think it’s one of the best things I’ve read in my life, and having seen Tobe Hooper’s version a few times already, I figured I’d give this a shot. Rob Lowe plays the lead and sucks all the likability out of the character. In fact, I don’t think I liked anyone in the cast. Donald Sutherland was the familiar and Rutger Hauer was the vampire, but both of their screen time was minimal. Dud. Remake it again, why not?

Ive got pieces of a movie in my head that I saw as a kid early to mid 70s. As a kid it was scary but I saw it on TV so not sure if it was a made for tv movie or one that just ended up on tv.

There's also a chance my mind is playing tricks on me and piecing things together from different sources.

It was in color as I recall and it involved a kid dying and being reincarnated. Every so often Im reminded of this and try to search but never find anything. I was thinking the kid was played by Brandon Cruz but dont see anything in his filmography. I need to forget about this once and for all.

wait, do you mean reincarnated, or reanimated? If reincarnated, then as what? Another kid?

That's not it but I do have a fuzzy recollection of this one now that I look at it. I remember my older siblings teasing me about because that was the name I went by at the time.

Gotta check Doc's link now. -- Nope nothing there.

Ive thought about this a lot on and off over the years and it frustrates me til I forget about it again.

Yep introduced me to that Bobby segment. So good.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
