Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

Yep, thoroughly enjoyed the early Beasties. I remember I was in the midst of Thatcher's Britain, with nary a farthing to rub together, but I somehow scrounged up the money to buy the first album.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑02 Mar 2021, 8:27pmJust popped in my brain box:

I ask only because even by the mid-80s that gap of the Atlantic could be pretty significant for chart success. Related question, then: How long did it take for hip hop to go mainstream in the UK?Heston wrote: ↑02 Mar 2021, 10:07pmHaha, yes. I think rap and hip hop were welcomed from day one in the UK. Don't forget this is the country who kept White Lines in the top 40 for over four months. I think it barely registered in the billboard charts.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑02 Mar 2021, 10:49pmI ask only because even by the mid-80s that gap of the Atlantic could be pretty significant for chart success. I've never read anything about hip hop in the UK context, but now I'm curious about how it was received, especially if it was embraced noticeably quicker than in the US. Earliest thing I remember about hip hop in the UK is kids breaking the logo signs off of BMWs to wear as necklaces.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑03 Mar 2021, 7:32amI've never read anything about hip hop in the UK context, but now I'm curious about how it was received, especially if it was embraced noticeably quicker than in the US. Great stuff.
Forces have been looting
My humanity
Curfews have been curbing
The end of liberty
We're the flowers in the dustbin...
No fuchsias for you.
"Without the common people you're nothing"
Nos Sumus Una Familia

That was really good, thanks Laxman!
God, what a mess, on the ladder of success

Where you take one step and miss the whole first rung

Love that. You know you've done something pretty special when you can make Helen Mirrens day like that.

I never thought much of this song until Black Mirror used it. That episode has now infused it with true love.

This is the greatest song on YouTube with under 20,000 views.
