I like it a lot especially at the correct speed. I wouldn't chose it over a fair few others from the SBM comp but it's still solid.Kory wrote: ↑05 Mar 2021, 1:30pmI'm aware.Marky Dread wrote: ↑05 Mar 2021, 1:27pmUmm it's from Sandinista! sessions.Kory wrote: ↑05 Mar 2021, 1:26pmAs a big trip hop/downtempo fan, its tone and mood really appeal to me. I think it fits in well with whatever genre-less thing Rat Patrol was trying to be.Marky Dread wrote: ↑05 Mar 2021, 6:11amWow "Stop the World" before all those other great tracks. I like StW but those other tracks are way too strong not to beat the experimental nature of that song. But I appreciate the individual and personal preference so good on you Kory.

I would have picked the same songs, so just going to co-opt Heston's list.

I love Squeeze, but 99% of the time I reach for Singles 45 and Under because my god what a great singles band they were.
I’ll co-sign this one because I would basically pick the singles plus another song and that ones good.

Agree and agree. Listened to Cool For Cats (album) a couple of times but not overly familiar with all the non single tracks, will have to put it on again (after Olaf's 5 in the other thread.)
Special mention to Up The Junction, one of my desert island discs and a perfect, perfect song. Starts with so much optimism lyrically and flipping that upside down right at the end, especially that last line, "and so it's my assumption, I'm really up the junction," never fails to give me goosebumps.

A total musical wonder as well, that chord sequence in the middle eight is something else, jumping in and out of different keys. I also love the way his vocal phrasing never changes for the whole song.BitterTom wrote: ↑11 Mar 2021, 4:51pmAgree and agree. They never bettered that track nor their 70s output.Heston wrote: ↑11 Mar 2021, 5:10pmA total musical wonder as well, that chord sequence in the middle eight is something else, jumping in and out of different keys. They certainly wrote other great songs but "Up the Junction" is pure class.Heston wrote: ↑11 Mar 2021, 5:14pmAnother Nail In My Heart is up there for me.
