Yeah quite possibly mate. Obviously the Columbia sleeve is US but with a wide distribution.

I'm of the opinion London Calling/Armagideon Time was their greatest single if you factor in music and artwork. London Calling is one of the best 3 minutes of music I've ever heard, and Armagideon Time is flawless. The way they hung together thematically was also a masterstroke.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Can't really disagree especially as both tracks are favourites. Maybe the fact that Armagideon Time is a contemporary cover might relegate down slightly against other tracks they wrote themselves. But as a package that 12" single with the two AT versions is stunning.

Very useful as a historical document because it puts to rest the rather baffling notion that the Clash recorded Give Em Enough Rope for the benefit of American radio.

The Clash chatter in these radio trades really picks up in early 1980 with London Calling. American AOR was still such a classic rock wasteland in thru 1979. Only a handful of new wave bands were on the air then: Blondie, Talking Heads, Police, Cars, Elvis Costello. Maybe Nick Lowe and Graham Parker? Intended for radio or not there's nothing on GEER that aligns with the *safe* sound of those artists.

That being said, the (now defunct) alt station in my town, WFNX, used to frequently play Julie in the late 80s/early 90s. Don't know if that entered into general rotation by the PD or just a personal fave by one of the DJs.

Cheers Marky! I wish I could remember who took it. It’s not the easiest one to google either. It’s Joe in the photo, isn’t it?

Just remembered there is a poster of it in the cigarette in the Sound System box set! Credited as photo by Simonon.
