Well you sold me on this with your write up. And I saw the Wedding Present loads back in the day with George Best/The Peel Sessions/Bizzaro getting some heavy rotation back then. But that said this just didn't grab me. Vic Goddard does this suave thing so much better. 5/10

Momus, “Ten Foot Hut”
Listened to this a few times now and it gets better each time I hear it. 7/10

Fritz, “Jan. 1”
It's all a bit too dreary sounding. Too mopey for my tastes. 4/10

Norman Westberg, “The Olive Rolls Away From the Tree".
Not bad at all and something I could kick back and chill to. Very elegiac sounding. 7/10

Actually I think it was a Rockpalast radio concert with a couple of bands, but The Fall were headlining. We'd basically been there to see Stiff Little Fingers, and so had just about everyone else it seemed, so when The Fall came on afterwards they were almost booed right off the stage again cause SLF weren't allowed any encores.

Cha Cha Cohen - A=A. Love the rhythm and feel to this, great atmosphere. Like the vocals but they were a little too low in the mix for me. Definitely cinematic as you said, would listen again. 8/10.

Cinerama - Dance Girl Dance. Great melody and even better in the chorus. Decent feel good track and to counter rev, the kind of 80s music I love. Smooth, good vocals and a cracking tune. 9/10.

Momus - Ten Foot Hut. This was a treat, loved it and had it on many times already. Unsure of the vocals at first but they have great rhythm and I wouldn't change them at all. The unconventional chords throughout the song work so well and the subtle build up during the "all I need is a ten foot hut," does weird and wonderful things to me. Only (very slight) issue with me was the abrupt ending, I could have had another chorus. Went straight on the playlist. 10/10.

Fritz - Jan 1. Took a little bit to get going though it was far from unpleasant. Couldn't make too much out of the vocals but the music is great. Then it kicks in, here we go, onto another winner here. Yeah really enjoying this, good chord sequence, nice simple solo. Vocals a little airy but other than that a solid track. Again, added to the playlist. 9/10

Norman Westburg - The Olive Rolls Away From The Tree. 2 minutes in and still waiting. I've decided to start again and really give it a go. Ok, I'll say this, it's far from unpleasant, it's calming and atmospheric I'll give you that. I'm not going to pretend this is my bag but I didn't mind this to a certain degree, would I seek out more? Probably not. Would I track it down again? Probably not. Is it going on the playlist? No. Beats that 20 minute track in your first selection hands down though! 5/10.

Cheers, Tom. I'm especially happy that you dug the Momus track. As I mentioned in my initial description, I haven't found too much of Momus that interesting for the last couple decades, but this album and song showed the old dog still has life in him.
