Amongst all this, let's not forget how great this was. Shame about Clapton being there but this is brilliant.

Never heard this version before, fantastic. Thanks for posting Heston.

Here Comes the Night is baddass too!
As is Waterloo Sunset.
I do like that. Could never beat the original but a good reworking. It was totally unexpected at the time, Virgin Radio played it a lot.

I’d say “Hard To Be a Saint...” completely sincerely. It’s fucking great.
It really is. I'd heard Bowie's version dozens of times before I'd ever heard the original!

It is bloody excellent mate. I remember watching it at the George tribute concert and along with "I'll See You In My Dreams" by Joe Brown they were the big emotional moments.

I love this...

Surely no one is going to suggest Bowie's I Can't Explain or Friday On My Mind are better than the originals?
I don’t think his Can’t Explain is even close to the original. I prefer his Friday, but that’s a personal preference. I wouldn’t argue it with anyone because I think it’s 100% subjective to me.
OK, I'll let you off this time.

Here, have a picture of the actual Wolston Manor...

Agreed, that was so good. Just had to listen to it a couple of more times.

To be fair, didn't Preston play on the original? I know it's not his song, but he at least had a part in the creation/recording.

Best Bowie cover?

I reckon Where Have All the Good Times Gone. It even trumps the Kinks version.

Sorry I just love the lead guitar and drums in the Bowie version.

Bowie's version is great. But I'll accept it only as being as good as not better.

How do we feel about Van Halen's version? :shifty:
