A) It's always weird to learn that shift like this is still on the books, like Mississippi not ratifying the 13th A until the 1990s.
B) And there are some assholes who just can't help but admit that they'd love to enslave others if they could.

It also became a way for the opportunistic to get money and power on easy mode. If Ted Cruz thought being anti-fa would get him elected, he'd be barking up that tree, I'm sure of it.

Cruz is especially odious and naked in ambition. He spouts libertarianism and religious authoritarianism in the same sentences. He'd have been a Bolshevik in 1919, a Nazi in 1933, and a Maoist in 1947.Silent Majority wrote: ↑18 Mar 2021, 10:42pmIt also became a way for the opportunistic to get money and power on easy mode. Also pretty cool that we have teachers getting this aggressive about any students that are having problems, either way. I know a lot of the kids from my school that went on to become teachers and it's a fucking horrorshow.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑31 Mar 2021, 10:32amhttps://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2 ... cist-rant/

One of many, many things I hate about academia is how many people treat the classroom as an opportunity to be an absolute asshole. Just outright contempt for students. Yeah, most of your students aren't that into whatever you're yakking about, but so be it. It's your fucking job so treat the work and discourse with respect, and embrace those kids who are dorky enough to be into it. Find the ones who care and feed off their interest rather than be a bitter prick.Kory wrote: ↑31 Mar 2021, 3:11pmAlso pretty cool that we have teachers getting this aggressive about any students that are having problems, either way. It's no big surprise really. Racists come from all parts of society. It's just the Met police are like patting themselves on the back for weeding out the racist. Wankers!

Weird how they never discover underground rings of humanists, socialists, and pacifists among the cops.

Can somebody explain this to me (the offending picture is at the end of their statement, on the sleeve of the right arm). I flat-out am not seeing insensitivity or white supremacy at work in this drawing. Prison reform is vital, of course, ending dehumanization and sincerely pursuing rehabilitation and restitution, but this confession comes off as, at best, clumsy wokeness and, at worst, a manufactured thing, calling themselves out to raise their profile.

Yeah at the risk of sounding like an Alt-Right asshole, the indie music scene has become Increasingly oversaturated with virtue signaling artists. The worst offender of this is the website bandcamp who has a weekly artist spotlight. It tends to focus on nothing related to the music, but rather the struggle behind it. “[Insert artist name here] explores the struggle of pescatarian transgender women in the Benguela province of Angola through the use of harsh techno music interspersed with 1970s Japanese porn samples.” Idk. The whole thing comes across as white people trying to profit off of others misery.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑03 Apr 2021, 7:05amhttps://www.nme.com/news/music/big-thie ... ry-2913270

I think what they mean is using the cliche of a "coloured" person in prison kinda demonstrates the lack of awareness that normalizes white supremacy. But yeah, seems a bit of a stretch.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑03 Apr 2021, 7:05amhttps://www.nme.com/news/music/big-thie ... ry-2913270
