The Futurology/Alien Civilization/Societal Collapse MegaThread
I become concerned that even if we become intergalactic the slow death of the universe will eventually halt us. Perhaps we are doomed to live off of black hole energy generators. This is why I believe our only hope is to transcend this universe. We must learn to travel between different universes.

Re: Can humanity become a Type V civilization?
We need to get to the moon before we can think about other universes.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

I believe at the end of time humanity will long have ceased to exist. I just feel sorry for the sharks.

Do we really even deserve to exist given our long track record of destroying the world and killing others? We would probably cause global warming on every planet before the actual end of the universe.

Well, I can't speak for anyone else but I certainly deserve to exist. My track record on destroying the world and killing others isn't really that long.RockNRollWhore wrote: ↑04 Apr 2021, 5:49amDo we really even deserve to exist given our long track record of destroying the world and killing others? Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

I'm going to remake this thread into a general Futurology/Alien/Societal Collapse type thread.
Found this little gem earlier:
Do you think god might be an alien?
Also... Inder if you see this, I'm not sure whether this subject would be better suited to the groovy times thread or not. I suppose it kind of has its feet set in both categories.

Re: Can humanity become a Type V civilization?
I think if any kind of creator exists at all, it's some being that created this universe by accident. It certainly isn't capable of intervention on a micro level.RockNRollWhore wrote: ↑05 Apr 2021, 5:27pmI'm going to remake this thread into a general Futurology/Alien/Societal Collapse type thread.

Or perhaps they just don't care about the fate of humans? What about the evil god theory? Perhaps god is malevolent and derives sadistic pleasure from watching humans suffer?Kory wrote: ↑05 Apr 2021, 5:44pmI think if any kind of creator exists at all, it's some being that created this universe by accident.
