My Dad's catchphrase when Top of the Pops was on was "He's hardly fucking Enrico Caruso." I never knew who was until then.Inder wrote: ↑06 Apr 2021, 12:47pmI thought this name seemed familiar... https://clashcity.com/boards/viewtopic. ... 56#p476356Heston wrote: ↑05 Apr 2021, 3:23pmTotally depends. Music for pleasure by the Damned is extremely underrated. It’s not a stone cold classic but it certainly isn’t the disasterpiece reviewers make it out to be. It’s mostly the same as the first record with more sterile production and the absence of any real standout tracks. It’s solid all the way through though and the production kind of reminds me of the NY dolls/Ramones, that sort of dry 1970s NYC punk rock sound. Not a bad record by any means. Phantasmagoria and anything are even enjoyable to
Me.

100% agree. Not a lot of standout tracks, but it’s not awful.RockNRollWhore wrote: ↑06 Apr 2021, 9:00pmMusic for pleasure by the Damned is extremely underrated. I think I first heard of Caruso when young Dylan said "I'm as good as Enrico Caruso." and the journalists laughed and he said "No! I think I am!"

Got some solid tracks on it for me. Still a shame they only got Nick Mason and not Syd Barrett as intended.RockNRollWhore wrote: ↑06 Apr 2021, 9:00pmMusic for pleasure by the Damned is extremely underrated.
