Forgot how much of a banger this is:

Peter_Gabriel_(self-titled_album,_1980_-_cover_art).jpg

Reminds me of Early PIL in places.
I only know Games Without Frontiers and it is fucking great. Is there anything else of that calibre?
Yeah the entire thing is post punky art rock type shit.

This track fucks heavy:

Fun fact: thats the first recorded use of gated reverb. It was caused by a spontaneous recording malfunction and Phil Collins decided they should keep it.

I get your point about PIL.

Hell yeah. I love that whole album. No Self Control and Not One of Us are great too.

Such a shame they broke up. Such wasted potential. It’s punk reggae fusion but so unique in execution. It’s got the
nerviness of post punk like Gang of Four almost. And yes I know, but the ruts DC are nowhere near as good.

"Broke up" Malcolm died of a heroin album so they didn't exactly break up. The Ruts DC album "Animal Now" is great.

"The Crack" is a stone cold classic. The follow up compilation album "Grin & Bear It" is also essential. There was a lovely box set of those two albums along with the Peel sessions and live at the Marquee gig released by Caroline records a couple of years back. Plus a stand alone reissue of "The Crack" with unreleased demos etc.

A great band and the Ruts DC album "Music Must Destroy" is class.

The finest band after The Clash for me.

Paul Weller plays on "And Through the Wire".

Great album.

Yup, I played the hell out of the first 4 albums in the 80s - Car, Scratch, Melt, Security. Also like So and Us a lot too. I saw Pete at the Human Rights Now show at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto in 1988 and still have the t-shirt from that show.

I still remember the first time I heard "Moribund the Burgermeister." What a day that was.

Great song. So bizarre. My favorites from that album are that, Here Comes the Flood, and of course Solsbury Hill.

This was my introduction to Lee “Scratch” Perry. Heard it on a reggae hour radio show in the mid-90s and spent a while tracking it down, as he uses the same title on one or two very different songs. Still one of my favorites from crazy ol' Lee.

I’m a little confused though. Going through his Spotify discography it appears he recorded some of his albums with German vocals? Odd market to try and appeal to.
