The Germs' (GI) i sitting at three votes and I'd like to send out a plea for any stragglers to consider getting it through the preliminaries.

That album helped spawn the hardcore movement and it remains one of its finest exemplars. Every track on it is a classic. It's worth remembering that, when the hardcore bands started, Darby and the gang werent keeping up on whatever bullshit storylines NME was running. They had those class of 77 records and just thought this was the next logical step. The pure democratisation of punk rock. That old saw about how punk was something everyone could do? Fuck that, the common shithead couldn't put together NMTB or release a single like New Rose or whatever. But any alienated punk could get together and start a hardcore band. This album that documents the sound of Darby Crash bring punk rock, truly, to the people. And it still fucking slays to this very day.
Seconded.

If we were still going with 5 votes, I would have voted the Germs in, but since I only had 4 votes, I opted for the Damned "Machine Gun Etiquette" to round out my picks. Both are great albums, but I think MGE is a little bit stronger. I have both of albums on my iPod, songs I never hit "skip" when they come up on the shuffle rotation.

I can't emphasize enough how important it is to listen to the album from front to back, but here are three tasty tracks that represent Darby's version of David Bowie's apocalyptic visions filtered through a blender of class of 77 inspiration and punk rock democracy:

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

Well, y'all got to ten albums, plus, however criminally belatedly, you consigned Dynasty to the KISS-branded dustpan of history (only $99.95 at the KISS Store). Along with every other American band.

We'll pick things up on Monday and in two weeks find out whether London Calling can somehow sneak its way to the final.

Looks like you're back in the saddle again, Herr Doktor.

Glad to see the albums I voted for all made the cut.

Only one technical hiccup that I can recall, and I was to blame for that. Things are much easier now at my end.

Flex posted a few really good ones, here's "Media Blitz". For a song written in the last 70's, it's spot on for all the social media etc. that people are so influenced by today.

One of my favorites. That riff at the beginning...
