1) peel a banana and cut it into 4 pieces or so
2) freeze it
3) once frozen, blend it with some oat milk (the extra creamy stuff is best IMO)
4) add a flavour (strawberries, or cocoa powder etc)
5) blend
You get a better milkshake than any fast-food place can come up with. If you use just a splash of oat milk and you have a good blender or food processor it's thick like just melting ice-cream.

The bananas are best if they're slightly soft (spots on the peel) when you freeze them.

I tell no lie - it's magnificent.

What's the reason for freezing the banana? Is it just to make the result cold or does freezing do something to the nature of the banana? Just curious whether you could do everything and then throw it in the fridge or freezer for a bit.

I would assume that if you did it before freezing/chilling you wouldn’t get the air bubbles in the mix so it would be hard like ice cream that melts and refreezes instead of light and airy in texture.

I basically agree. Once a banana starts going a bit soft, it loses all appeal. Has to be solid.

My Nan used to swear by her mushed up banana sandwiches with margarine, still turns my stomach just thinking about it.
