Hello,

Armed Love - The (International) Noise Conspiracy. This album demonstrates a bit of change for this bunch - a saxophone, even. At first, I wasn't thrilled but upon repeated listens recently, it's pretty good and stacks up with their earlier stuff.

A good song with a lot of rock star posing in the video.

Sounds tasty. I may look up something similar on YouTube.

Kinda good. I admit that when I was 16 a lot of the harsher, dronier stuff went over my head, but it's what catches my ear more now.

"European Son" is the one that I'm most drawn to these days. The effect of the collapsing sound and broken glass before it really takes off catches me unaware every time and makes me sit up.

I can't stop listening to And Out Come the Wolves at the moment. Such a life-affirming album abeit 6 songs too long. When it cooks it fucking cooks though.

It is a great one. One of the best things about the show I went to recently was that they played nearly the entire album.

You just turn off the button on your device, it's easy.

This is me in reverse. I wanted that noise back then but now I appreciate the lighter stuff.

I've always been older than you stupid! I was listening to heavy stuff while you were still in diapers. I was born loud. Now let me get some peace and quiet you noisy little upstart.😉

The Cale/drone element is what really caught my ear when I first listened to VU. It just sounded so cool and weird that when I listened to ST, I thought, “what is this generic pop shit?” Like, how did they go from weird to normal? I thought most bands went the other way around. Took me awhile to appreciate the post-Cale stuff.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Blah blah blah, you loser late-50s person. I'm early 50s—you just don't get my slightly younger generation!

Yeah, it's seductive to think of post-Cale as a retreat or cop-out. I remember reading about the mystique of the Velvets and being avant garde and challenging … and then hearing Loaded. What am I missing? Different beast, different way of approaching common subject matter.
