Arms Aloft In Acton Town

Post by white man »

Have teased a commemoration of the 20th anniversary. Fingers crossed that it's the footage

Not a 100% sure what you're getting at here tbh but it sounds like something good so fingers and toes firmly xed.

Arms Aloft in Acton Town was set up by members of the Fire Brigades Union and other trade unionists who wanted to memorialise Joe Strummer and the Mescalero's support for the FBU at Acton Town Hall on the 15th November 2002.
They filmed the whole gig on the night Mick joined Joe onstage. It's had a very heavily cut release back in about 2008.
Hopefully someone has been able to negotiate some kind of longer cut.

I've seen a couple of videos on YT, but I don't think I've seen the entire show.

Ah ok, get you now. Would definitely be great to get something for the 20th.

I managed to download a good quality clip of the whole encore from Facebook a few year ago, but it wasn't from that camera angle. I'll see if I can find it

Best bootleg I've ever heard. Pro footage is honestly my white whale.

I’m not sure how to post a picture, but it looks like they announced a show to commemorate the 20th anniversary (feat. Rotten Hill Gang, Tymon Dogg, Ray Gange, etc.) You can see the poster on their Facebook page (apologies if this is posted somewhere and I just haven’t seen it yet).

Wish I could predict whether or not Mick would make another surprise appearance because I could justify the international flight if so…

I’d guess it’s down to the pandemic if Mick appears. November’s a ways off.

No problem! I saw it and was surprised no one had posted it here yet so figured I’d share.

Teddy’s right that November is far off and who knows how the pandemic will be. Guess I’ll keep it on the back burner for now and see where we are closer to the event!

All true. Miraculous and devastating. I selfishly wish someone could have turned up the amp Mick plugged into.
