The best CD-bootlegs
The best CD-bootlegs
I haven't actually bought a bootleg (vinyl or CD) in a long time since I discovered the "torrents", but there are some CD-bootlegs that are also attractive from a collector's point of view. Personally there are two that I would happily buy (at a reasonable price) if I found them in a record store (not online):
Deadly Serious https://www.discogs.com/release/2104807 ... ly-Serious
Clash On Broadway 4 - The Outakes https://www.discogs.com/release/2106314 ... he-Outakes

Re: The best CD-bootlegs
I have both of those. They are/were great before I did the remasters which I play now. But if you can get them at a decent price then they are cool.Red Angel wrote: ↑11 Feb 2022, 6:04amI haven't actually bought a bootleg (vinyl or CD) in a long time since I discovered the "torrents", but there are some CD-bootlegs that are also attractive from a collector's point of view. I am particularly attracted to booklets, which make them collectible items.Marky Dread wrote: ↑11 Feb 2022, 8:20pmI have both of those. Re: The best CD-bootlegs
The other Clash-related titles both those labels produced are also really well done. Extensive fold-out booklets etc (although just re-tooling previously available text and pics from magazine articles etc)Red Angel wrote: ↑11 Feb 2022, 6:04amI haven't actually bought a bootleg (vinyl or CD) in a long time since I discovered the "torrents", but there are some CD-bootlegs that are also attractive from a collector's point of view. Re: The best CD-bootlegs
You are right these two labels are very careful in packaging their products, a right choice. As far as other CD-bootlegs are concerned, it is almost useless to underline the importance of D.O.A.JohnS wrote: ↑12 Feb 2022, 9:01amThe other Clash-related titles both those labels produced are also really well done. Re: The best CD-bootlegs
Yes D.O.A. was a great round up of a lot of rarities back in the day. But of course the problem with bootlegs is always the same nice eye catching packaging but very little effort (if any) given to remastering, speed correction, equalization etc.Red Angel wrote: ↑15 Feb 2022, 3:52amYou are right these two labels are very careful in packaging their products, a right choice. Re: The best CD-bootlegs
I’d still recommend DOA for any new Clash fan who wants to explore the band’s rarities.
Some of it could be upgraded and/or speed corrected these days, but it’s a great compilation and features tracks from some really hard to find bootlegs (as pictured in the artwork)
The fact it was compiled by fans and traded freely made it even more welcome
